Design for a tall screen

Vertical layouts are narrow, so put the subject and the most important words on the central part of the canvas. Keep extra space near the top and bottom for interface overlays that may appear when a viewer opens the story. This is a practical composition suggestion, not a substitute for checking the current platform interface.

Make a clean story image

1. Start at 1080 × 1920.
   This keeps the working canvas consistent from the beginning.
2. Check the crop at full height.
   Make sure heads, product corners, and labels remain inside the visible area.
3. Use a small number of overlays.
   A short headline and one privacy or measurement mark are often easier to scan than a crowded design.

Safe zones and Reels covers

Full-screen vertical canvases lose their edges to interface elements: the viewer's own profile picture and reply field usually cover the lower area, and status or camera icons sit near the top. A practical habit is to keep captions and logos inside the middle band of the 1080 × 1920 canvas and treat roughly the top and bottom quarters as decoration-only space. Nothing is cropped away by the editor — the exported file is always the full 1080 × 1920 — so this is purely about where the viewer's eye lands.

The same 9:16 canvas also works as a Reels cover. If you plan to reuse a story design as a cover, export once, then reload the file and nudge the crop so the title sits near the vertical center. Keeping one master image at 1080 × 1920 makes that a two-minute adjustment instead of a redesign.
